When creating my artwork, my overall idea was to have something that speaks to its audience in not one but many layers and colors. My goal was to tell a story through the photos; stories that could change with the perspective of each person. I wanted to create images that have realness behind them but are packed with depth and profundity. At first, my concentration was based on architecture and the lines in the organization of it, but I soon after was drawn to artist James Dean Diamond and his use of layering architectural photos to get a very abstract outcome. His work made me decide to change my overall idea and instead give my photos a deeper meaning. When creating my pieces, I faintly blurred them to start fresh, then proceeded to layer that same image over one another and played with the blending mode until I saw something that could tell a story. My overall objective was to “paint a picture”; have it to where a person would have to contemplate if it was actually digital art and not a painting. I made sure to fill my photos with depth and pigment, for the audience to be able to feel the motion in the story as well as the picture itself.
